Hard and Soft Adventure

There's plenty of adventure to be had in and around Knysna

We include a list below to help you choose ....

Moutain Hiking / Biking
The Harkerville Cycle Routes, situated between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, offer an unrivalled playground.

Four distinctly colour coded routes (12km, 14km, 15km and 24km) have been laid through indigenous forest, tree plantations and coastal fynbos.

Knysna - Hiking
Petrus-se-brand Cycle Route covers 24km and is suitable for riders of average fitness. Due to the fall in elevation, it is recommended that you start from 'north' to "south'

Diepwalle to Garden of Eden. The trail passes many old yellow woods and the route offers quite a contrast: after riding beneath the forest canopy for 10km, the cool depths give way to warm, bright sunshine. On winter days the difference is especially marked.

The Homtini Cycle Route is named after the Khoi word meaning 'difficult passage ' It refers to the narrow gorges of the river, so be prepared for a tough challenge. The start and finish point of the 19km circular route is Krisjan-se-nek picnic site. You ride through some high forest before breaking away onto a single track. Expect a rapid descent to the forest margin and, on a hot day, take a plunge in the shallow water hole before tackling the test ridge climb to Portland Heights (310m). At the top you are rewarded with one of the most spectacular views in the Garden Route.

The Knysna Oyster Route is through private tree plantations and on land owned by SAFCOL. A long distance route (35km), it begins and ends at the Concordia Training Centre.
